Method and limits
- Collection. On November 8, 2026 we requested every open post from 98 companies' public Greenhouse, Lever, and Ashby job board APIs.
- Cleaning. We removed HTML and the paragraphs about benefits, pay ranges, equal opportunity, and the company itself, so only the job content counts. We removed duplicate posts and posts under 400 characters.
- Roles. We sorted posts into roles by job title. Directors, vice presidents, and interns are left out. A role needs at least 40 posts from at least 15 companies to get a page.
- Matching. Each keyword has a fixed list of spellings (for example "CI/CD" or "continuous integration"). We count a keyword once per post. Short names that are also common words, such as Go, R, and Excel, match only in clear contexts. A company's own product is not counted in its own posts.
- Balance. At most 25 posts per company per role, so one large employer does not set the result.
- Limits. Most companies in the sample are US tech companies. The keyword list is ours, so a skill that we did not list cannot appear. A share shows how often employers mention a keyword, not how much it matters to a given recruiter.

Resume keywords are the skills, tools, job titles, and credentials that a recruiter searches for in an applicant tracking system. If your resume uses the same words as the job post, it shows up in that search.
Where does this keyword data come from?
From 16,943 open job posts that 98 companies published on their public Greenhouse, Lever, and Ashby job boards, collected on November 8, 2026.
Is a keyword list enough to tailor my resume?
No. A list shows what is common for a role. Each job post has its own keywords and its own wording, so check your resume against the post you apply to.
